Hope Giver
Cedar Rapids Kiwanis Club
Our club was founded in 1920 and it grew over the years to over 100 members during the 1950’s, the golden era of service clubs, and now has 30 active members. Our mission is to work collectively to help children while having fun together.
We have built playgrounds, raised money for local parks, and made major contributions to efforts by Kiwanis International to eradicate Neo-Natal Tetanus worldwide. Our projects have changed over the years, but the mission has stayed the same. Our current focus is on the Kiwanis Miracle League, Shoes for children in foster care, and sponsoring Kiwanis youth groups.
Here are some more efforts in which we are currently involved:
- Contributing to improvements to local public parks.
- Packing food packs for HACAP.
- Assisting and providing books for the HACAP preschool.
- Assisting with the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department’s Rollin’ Recmobile.
- Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army.
- Project Linus – National Make a Blanket Day
